ASSESS YOUR RISK FOR GUM DISEASE
The 7 Danger Signs of Gum Disease That You Didn't Know about...
1. Your gums sometimes bleed when you brush your teeth.
This folks is not normal and should not be thought of as normal. If any other part of your body bled when you touched it you would be calling your physician post haste. Don't be fooled to thinking that bleeding is a normal part of brushing.
2. You've got bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth.
Guess what, if you don't notice it i guarantee your spouse, loved one, co-worker or child will notice it. Many times they will want to ignore it as well and won't let you know.
3. Your gums are soft, swollen or tender.
Tender gums are a sign of inflammation and not present in health. Your gums should be pink not red and firm not flabby.
4. Your gums are receeding from your teeth.
Ever heard the term long in the tooth. Well the gums should stay up near the tops or crowns of the teeth. The root should not be showing.
5. Your teeth have changed their position slightly, making your 'bite' different.
This is a classic sign of even more severe gum and bone loss. The teeth move because the bone is diminished and no longer can support the teeth. Much like an umbrella tipping over on the beach when not enough support or sand is around it.
6. Any of your teeth are loose.
In health the teeth should be stable and not moveable. With looseness comes other problems.
7. Pus seeps from your gums when you press them.
Is pus anywhere on your body a good sign? Not that I am aware of.
Could you be one of the millions of people who have gum disease and don't know it?
